I spent some time looking at the structure of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which, if you are not familiar, is very poorly designed. In my piece on Seeking Alpha entitled "Dow Jones Industrial Average: Implicit Bets Might be Smart", I uncovered some huge differences between it and the S&P 500. You may not agree with my conclusion that the DJIA could be a marginal relative winner, but you should be aware of the bets buried in that index.
